Fury MMA were back at the open aired Studio 338 in Greenwich for a semi pro event to build up for their main show. The Road To Fury had 15 semi pro bouts and there was some awesomely matched fights throughout the night in MMA, K1 and Boxing.
The main event of the evening saw DFC Gym’s posterboy, Charlie Boy Howard take on Ministry’s Rayko Levitchi for the Semi Pro Featherweight Title.
The first round was dominated by Levitchi as he got Howard to the floor and threw some heavy ground and pound. At some points it looked as though an upset was on the cards and that the 100+ fans that Howard had brought were going to go home unhappy.
In the second round, more of the same, Levitchi got top position and began to ground and pound. However this time Howard worked a high guard and despite his coaches screaming at Levitchi to posture up, he ignored and it ended with a Howard Armbar finish.
In the co main event of the evening, Jake McCarthy and Lucaz Bienias of New Wave Academy and The MMA Clinic respectively had a hard fought battle which was 50/50 the whole way. Lucaz got the takedown in round one and appeared to win that round, but in the second McCarthy started to take control on the feet against what appeared to be a fatigued Bienias. This is MMA however, and one wrong move for McCarthy leaving his head free meant Bienias slipped his arm in and sunk in the guillotine choke to finish it in round 2.
